Resistive Touchscreen : Resistive touch panel use old technology in which they use serveral layers but 2 layers are important in Resistive touch screen. They both stand together with very thin space between with them.when a stylus or finger press outer layer its touch the inner layer and then they register the point location and perform the given task. As you can see in animated image.only one advantage of resistive touch screen that its low cost.

Capacitive Touchscreen : Capacitive Touch panel follow a new technology in which they use an insulator such as glass covered with a transparent conductor. Human body also work as electric conductor. Electric current can easily pass away from our body.so when a human finger touch the screen its distract the electric field of touch screen that point register as touch point and perform action according to that.

Why Capacitive Touchscreen Better Than Resistive

Response Timing : Capacitive touchscreen Response faster than Resistive touchscreen.
Multi-Touch : Capacitive touchscreen Supports multi-touch. It’s a nice feature which we use in gaming especially shooting games it’s also important to zoom any webpage page. Resistive Touchscreen can support multi-touch but very rare cases only.
Smoothness : Capacitive touchscreen response really smooth whenever you try to draw a line or anything you can see how smoothly its work but Resistive touchscreen won’t be smooth like capacitive touch screen.you can see in video in this post.
Sensitive : Resistive touchscreen use a Pressure technology in which you have to press until it touch the other layer of circuit.but in Capacitive touch screen you just have to touch your finger without any pressure it will response quickly.
Visibility : Capacitive touch screen visibility really good even in sun light but Resistive touch screen use poor visibility in sun light because of several layer.
Technology : Capacitive touch screen made by latest technology and Resistive touchscreen become old fashion now.
Looks : Look wise Capacitive touch screen looks glossy , shinny and scratch protected screen but resistive screen easily gets scratches with stylus or nails.

Note: I know Resistive touch screen has some advantages too but they are not enough to beat capacitive touchscreen. Always go for capacitive touchscreen if buy any android mobile because its better and new technology based touch panel.
